El Monasterio del Carmen Alto resguarda valiosas obras de arte religioso, como el conjunto escultórico de La Piedad, con un Cristo sevillano del siglo XVII y una Virgen Dolorosa de la Escuela Quiteña del XVIII. También destaca la “Dormición de la Virgen”, con figuras que representan apóstoles y ángeles en un momento de profunda devoción.
En el Coro Alto se conserva una escultura de santa Marianita de Jesús del siglo XVIII, junto a un ángel de la misma época. Asimismo, un pesebre con más de 300 piezas de los siglos XVIII y XIX recrea oficios y costumbres de la sociedad quiteña, convirtiéndose en un reflejo artístico de la vida y la fe popular.
The Monastery of Carmen Alto houses valuable works of religious art, such as the sculptural ensemble of La Piedad, featuring a 17th-century Sevillian Christ and a Sorrowful Virgin from the 18th-century Quito School. Also noteworthy is the «Dormition of the Virgin,» with figures representing apostles and angels in a moment of profound devotion.
In the Upper Choir, an 18th-century sculpture of Saint Marianita de Jesús is preserved, along with an angel from the same period. Likewise, a nativity scene with more than 300 pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries recreates the trades and customs of Quito society, becoming an artistic reflection of popular life and faith.
