El Convento de San Agustín conserva una valiosa pinacoteca, en la que destacan las obras del maestro quiteño Miguel de Santiago, uno de los principales representantes de la Escuela Quiteña. Sus cuadros, encargados por el padre Basilio de Ribera en el siglo XVII, narran la vida y milagros de San Agustín, y decoran los muros del claustro con gran riqueza artística, enmarcados por tallados dorados y ornamentaciones suntuosas.
Aunque parte de la colección se ha perdido o dañado, aún se conservan numerosas piezas de Santiago, junto a obras de otros artistas como Manosalvas, Luis Cadena y Antonio Salas. Estas pinturas muestran temas religiosos que exaltan la fe agustiniana, convirtiendo al convento en un museo vivo que refleja la evolución del arte colonial y republicano en Quito.
The Convent of San Agustín houses a valuable art gallery, featuring works by the Quito master Miguel de Santiago, one of the leading representatives of the Quito School. His paintings, commissioned by Father Basilio de Ribera in the 17th century, narrate the life and miracles of Saint Augustine and decorate the cloister walls with great artistic richness, framed by gilded carvings and sumptuous ornamentation.
